Releasing this Week (28/01/13 – 03/02/13): Skulls of the Shogun, Hitman HD, more

This week’s release schedule isn’t a full blockbuster offering, but it’s sure to keep gamers entertained with a charming XBLA title, a tactical jump back to a 1920 Atlantic City, and even memories from Agent 47′s past. Check it all out below.

Skulls of the Shogun
Developer: 17-BIT
Publisher: Microsoft
Platform(s): Xbox Live Arcade, Windows 8, Windows Phone

This week’s first notable release comes in the form of Skulls of the Shogun, a delightful turn-based strategy title from the three-man development team known as 17-BIT.

Players take on the role of a Samurai General as he looks to battle his way through the four seasons of the afterlife – with an army of misfits – in an attempt to become Shogun of the Dead.

Release date: Wednesday, January 30

Omerta – City of Gangsters
Developer: Haemimont Games
Publisher: Kalypso Media
Platform(s): PC

Ever fancied making your way up the Atlantic City criminal hierarchy? Yes? Good – then it’s time to get your hands on Omerta – City of Gangsters for a bit of tactical turn-based combat.

An Xbox 360 version is also on the way, set for mid-February release.

Release date: Thursday, January 31

Hitman HD Collection
Developer: IO Interactive
Publisher: Square Enix
Platform(s): Xbox 360, PlayStation 3

Following on from the reasonable success of Absolution, the demand for further Hitman offerings is apparent. We know new titles are on the way from both IO and Square Enix Montreal, but it’s always nice to take another look at previous releases.

With that, we now have a chance to experience Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money to enjoy on our sparkly HD consoles. With a $39.99 / £29.99 price tag, it’s well worth revisiting the previous contracts of Agent 47.

Release date: Friday, February 1

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch
Developer: Level-5 / Studio Ghibli
Publisher Namco Bandai
Platform(s): PlayStation 3

Following on from last week’s North American release, Level-5 and Studio Ghibli’s splendid PS3 RPG makes its way to European shores, with a hefty amount of anticipation following.

Release date: Friday, February 1 (Europe)
