Bastion developer Supergiant announces Transistor for 2014 release

Bastion developer Supergiant Games has revealed its next title, Transistor – slated for release in early 2014.

A sci-fi RPG, Transistor seemingly offers a similar style and gameplay vibe to that found in Bastion, with Logan Cunningham – narrator for the 2011 release – Tweeting about his involvement with the forthcoming title “in a vocal capacity.”

The game sees players take on the role of an unnamed female protagonist who obtains a powerful weapon following an encounter with a group of assailants. With that, she must fight those seeking to regain the Transistor and uncover the mystery behind it.

“Transistor invites players to wield an extraordinary weapon of unknown origin as they explore a stunning futuristic city,” reads an announcement post on the Supergiant website. “We’re designing our next game to seamlessly integrate thoughtful strategic planning into a fast-paced action experience, complete with our studio’s signature melding of responsive gameplay and rich atmospheric storytelling.”

Platforms for the game are yet to be decided. For now, it’s worth checking out a trailer below.
