USA cruise ship engulfed by waves during violent storm

The storm damaged many interior features of the cruise ship, which couldn't withstand the constant tipping caused by the waves.

The ship was venturing from New Jersey to Florida in early February when it was forced to return to port due to the violent weather. Passengers were forced to stay in the cabins overnight while the rough winds and waves knocked items about the ship.

Footage from a raging storm that injured four passengers aboard a cruise ship has emerged, showing 9-metre waves slamming against the side of the vessel.

Royal Caribbean said at the time that the storm was more severe than expected.

Late that month, Royal Caribbean canceled another Anthem of the Seas' itinerary as a result of a storm building up on the USA east coast.

However, it apologized to passengers following the February 7, 2016 incident, saying 'we have to do better'.

Terrifying footage showed the 1,100ft-long Anthem of the Seas undulating through huge swells and 90mph winds en route to Bermuda as it encountered the tropical storm Hermine.
