Former NFL Network reporter Rand Getlin first reported the news on Twitter.

"Obviously, they're making defense a big priority this offseason, and there's an opportunity at the opposite d-end, away from (Cameron Jordan)", Okafor said.

Last season, Okafor was a reserve outside linebacker playing behind Chandler Jones and Markus Golden in the Cardinals' scheme and was on the field for only 21.5 percent of the team's defensive snaps.

"The guys, they've been kind of vouching for me to come here for a while now", Okafor said, "and once we realized that both teams were on the same page, I was like, 'I got to get out there'".

Last year Okafor played through a torn biceps and was limited to 3.5 sacks.

The 26-year-old was a rotational pass-rusher in Arizona, but he has the potential to be an upgrade over the guys who have been rotating in that spot with the Saints over the past two years.

Klein finished the 2016 season with 31 tackles, two forced fumbles, and one sack.

Okafor will be someone who could help out defensive end Cam Jordan, who is coming off a season where he had 7.5 sacks.

With the Saints looking for pass rush help and Okafor looking for a new job, everything seemed to work out how Vaccaro envisioned.

Okafor said he believes he can get back to his 2014 form if he's healthy. "I have no regrets in Arizona. but I'm ready to take that next step and get back to the player I know I can be".

For Okafor, it felt good to be wanted.
