Dana White believes Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather will happen

White acknowledged what Mayweather had long since repeatedly noted: that a fight with McGregor would generate huge public interest and therefore massive revenue.

Mayweather wants a guaranteed $100 million for the fight and so does McGregor, along with a cut of the pay-per-view profits, but the boxer does not feel the UFC star is worth that much as he is willing to offer him around $15 million.

"I don't want to hear no more excuses about the money, about the UFC", Mayweather said. He was more than open to discussing the idea of doing it-Mayweather is open to talking about just about anything if it keeps his name in the news but as far as actually going through with the fight? Nah.

McGregor is now awaiting the birth of his first child, who is due to be born in late April or early May. But as has been the trend with the back-and-forth between the undefeated fighter and the UFC, when one camp says that the fight is close, the other will soon dispel it. "I think it's going to be a tough deal, because obviously [there are] a lot of egos involved in this deal and a lot of people, so that always makes it tougher".

Per the Daily Mail's Jeff Powell, there were recent rumors that the superstars booked the T-Mobile Arena for June 10, but White explained that it "has nothing to do with us".

"He's 27 years old, he's in the prime of his career", White said. Floyd is 40. Floyd has always had a problem with southpaws. When Conor hits people, they go. Floyd is definitely not knocking him out. There's also a whole lot of details still to be worked out before a deal could be finalized.

"I'm not saying Conor would win this boxing match, but it sure makes it interesting".

"If this was a mixed martial arts fight, it wouldn't last 30 seconds", White said. That has left Mayweather to publicly pound the drum, including on Saturday, when he said, "For Conor McGregor, I'm coming out of retirement, just to fight Conor McGregor".
