Roberts put the lives of all four "at considerable risk", the Department of Justice said in a press release on Tuesday.

Deanna Roberts, 47, pleaded guilty to eight felonies after injecting an illegal substance into four people, including Atlanta drag performer Lateasha Shuntel, the Atlanta U.S. attorney's office announced on Monday. "Before undergoing any type of medical procedure, patients should ensure they have consulted a licensed medical provider who is qualified to provide care". "We remain fully committed to bringing to justice those who offer unsafe and unapproved products to American consumers".

Deanna Roberts falsely claimed to be a licensed medical practitioner when she injected four different people, including 45-year-old Lateasha Shuntel.

In April 2004, Roberts began ordering liquid silicone from a business in Arizona.

Under US law, liquid silicone cannot be injected into the body, and can only be used to treat some eye conditions. She reportedly told officials that she was going to use the substance to lubricate medical equipment.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates the use of liquid silicone, said it should never be injected into the body.

The three other victims survived.

Federal prosecutors said the next day, Hall complained about feeling tightness in her torso and shortness of breath, "symptoms that are consistent with the presence of liquid silicone in the lungs", the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia said in a news release. During the early morning hours of November 18, 2015, L.H., died. However, one person died after receiving an injection in the buttocks.

From a microscopic examination of tissue surrounding one of the injection sites Dr. Smith determined that a blood vessel had been punctured.

An autopsy of Shuntel reported that a blood vessel had been ruptured and that silicone had entered her blood stream, congesting her lungs, liver, kidney, heart, spleen and brain.

Yet on November 16, 2015, she injected Shuntel ten times, including in her hips and buttocks, who then shared a post on Facebook naming Roberts and thanking her.
