FOX 'X-Men' Drama Gets an 'Originals' Star, 'Gifted' Title

There have been varying trickles of casting for the upcoming X-Men TV show, but no title quite yet.

If anything, fans have more reason to worry that a title like "Gifted" is an on-the-nose metaphor for a parent's love over his/her child, implying what could potentially be an overly sappy drama instead of a proper X-Men TV series. Donner posted a photo of the first table read of the script with the caption "Cast reading for Gifted" and even included the hashtag "Gifted".

Presumably taking its name from the Charles Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters, the show is set to follow a "gifted" mutant child and their normal parents discovering and joining an underground network of mutants.

Here are some of the actors who ARE confirmed: Stephen Moyer, Jamie Chung, Amy Acker, Emma Dumont, Percy Hynes White, Blair Redford, Sean Teale and Natalie Alyn Lind.

Peterson has been an unrestricted free agent since March 9 when Minnesota declined to exercise the 2017 option on his contract. The Minnesota Vikings signed running back Latavius Murray, formerly of the Oakland Raiders, to a three-year contract.

UPDATE: Entertainment Weekly has learned that "Gifted" is not yet the title of the show, but it IS the current working title. Additionally, Joseph Morgan (The Vampire Diaries, The Originals) has joined the cast.

What we hadn't heard in the midst of all of this was a title for the series, and we were getting really exhausted of typing "Untitled Fox Marvel Project" over and over. And, at the least, need a name to write down versus referring to the series as "the other" or "another" X-Men series. He was merely filling in for the read-through.

The show's executive producers are Bryan Singer, Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, and Jim Chory.

Gifted - written by Matt Nix (Burn Notice) and co-produced by Marvel and Fox - is expected to be connected to the X-Men movies.
