Bruins Come Back to Win First Game of Playoffs

After a brief scare from the New York Islanders and the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Ottawa Senators managed to secure a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Noted for his playmaking ability and potential as a power-play quarterback on the blue line, McAvoy helped Boston break through Ottawa's 1-3-1 zone, eluding the trap with both quick passes and long feeds into the Senators' zone.

The Bruins were locked into third place in the Atlantic Division when Toronto lost to Columbus on Sunday.

"It was a year ago today that I felt this team was a playoff team", said Dorion, who was hired April 10, 2016.

"Well if you look at Washington's year, they won the Presidents' Trophy again".

- Tuukka Rask was great, stopping 26 of 27 shots. "I think you've got to make their Ds turn, make them go back for pucks and limit the turnovers".

Special teams are usually a huge factor in the postseason and the Bruins have to hope that is the case for this particular series as they (at least on paper) hold a clear edge there. The negative goal differential thing is significant, but had Anderson not missed large chunks of the season to be with his wife during her cancer battle, Ottawa might well be a plus team.

Boucher said there could be changes to his lineup, but most likely won't make a decision until Saturday. Every game was close as the Sens never won by more than two goals.

"I think we're all really excited", said forward Brad Marchand, who led the Bruins with 39 goals.

And Guardiola gave a frank assessment on the eve of Saturday's game against Hull, saying: "I will be better, definitely". People always said Tottenham were able to beat the smaller teams but not the big ones", Vertonghen said.

Meanwhile, Raikkonen was fifth, reporting throttle issues, and only switching to a two-stopper late on. Mercedes are locked in a direct battle with Vettel's Ferrari team following three years of domination.

This is the first-ever postseason series between Boston and Ottawa, and the first series with home-ice advantage for the Senators since they reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 2007. With 15 players at his disposal, Boucher has some tough decisions to make.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau centred Hoffman and Mike Stone, while Brassard was alongside Viktor Stalberg and Alex Burrows. "Depth is one thing, but quality depth is another and we feel that we've got quality depth now".

Still, the Ottawa head coach has a pretty good idea of what kind of lineup he wants to put out against the visiting Boston Bruins.

Still down Brandon Carlo (upper-body) and Torey Krug (lower-body), McAvoy's role could grow even more if the Bruins are forced to skate without puck-moving defenseman Colin Miller, who was injured in a knee-on-knee hit in the second period, for the next game of this series.

Bruins defensmen Torey Krug (knee) and Brandon Carlo (possible concussion) were already out for the start of the series, forcing 2016 No. 1 draft pick Charlie McAvoy to make his National Hockey League debut. He also said that he's telling Chris Wideman to just keep his focus, same as he should for any game.

"Those guys were maybe looking for a little guidance before the game on what was going to happen, what to expect, how to channel that energy and what the game was going to look like". While Carlo's injury appears to be day-to-day, these two losses could have a severe impact on an already thin Bruins blue line.

Krug is the best option to weave his way through the Senators' boring yet efficient, New Jersey Devilian-like slog in the neutral zone.

"There's a whole bunch of stuff going on, but at the end of the day, I just want to be an effective player when I am coming back in and not hurting anybody by coming back prematurely".
