Samsung Bixby will not be fully ready yet at launch

This was a key feature which was set to debut on the new smartphones.

In a statement to the technology blog, the South Korean company said: "Key features of Bixby, including Vision, Home, and Reminder, will be available with the global launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 on April 21".

According to the reports, the Samsung will work on the Bixby until the two Samsung Galaxy S8 phones arrive in stores later this month, and even long after.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will ship without voice control for its virtual assistant, Bixby.

The Siri and Alexa competitor - which has its own dedicated button on the side of the phone - will gain the feature via a software update latter this spring.

A statement issued by Samsung to IBTimes UK read: "All Bixby functionality, bar the Voice Function, will be available to UK customers at launch".

At the time of unveiling the Galaxy S8, Samsung promised that the full version of Bixby will be ready for prime time use when the device will go on sale. Bixby will also be able to learn a user's routine and pull the most important information and tasks from different apps onto a single screen.

The company has refused to comment on why the voice command has been delayed.

Another significant feature of the new devices is Bixby, Samsung's new digital assistant and "intelligent interface".

However, some of the apps created to work with Bixby will still feature on the phone including Vision, which lets you point a camera at objects in the real world to use augmented reality and see information on your phone screen.

Bixby was one of the flagship new differentiators for the Galaxy S8. The Journal said Samsung executives were still discussing on when to make Bixby available in English.
