Deshaun Watson: Mayock compares Watson mindset to Mariota

He may pay attention to the destination of Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Hopkins said he hasn't spoken to Watson but acknowledged that they have some mutual friends as Hopkins has family that plays for Clemson that have shared the message that a Clemson connection would be favorable to Watson. And that's an important characteristic at any position, but especially quarterback. A little bit like Marcus Mariota.

In 2016, Watson completed 388 passes out of 579 attempts for 4593 yards and 41 passing touchdowns with 17 interceptions (and his degree) for an adjusted QBR of 84.9. "He's got a long way to go", Mayock said. But I really like the kid and I really like his skill set. The analyst is sold on Watson's intangibles, but offered more questions when it came to his on-field tendencies. Winston went No. 1 overall that year, and became the first quarterback in National Football League history to throw for over 4,000 yards in each of his first two seasons. Tyler Bray and Joel Stave are both on the depth chart right now but either one could easily be tossed for better options, so it's easy to see the Chiefs also reaching for a quarterback early in the draft.
