It will be interesting to see if The Donald insists, much like with the inauguration, that it was the biggest Easter egg hunt ever.

"We're going to come out and join you and enjoy your company for a roll, a great Easter egg roll", he said while standing alongside his wife on the White House balcony.

Press Secretary Sean Spicer posed for pictures beside the Easter Bunny on the White House lawn.

With Ms Trump permanently residing in NY, the White House did not announce the event would even take place until March. He was accompanied by somebody dressed up in an Easter bunny costume.

After his less than a hundred days in service to the White House, Trump delivered his conviction in strengthening the United States under his administration.

"We're doing the egg roll hanging out and having a good time", said participant Cullen Gullott.

There was, however, some speculation about whether the Trumps would be able to pull off a successful "egg-stravaganza".

Mr Trump's team was expected to hand out 18,000 wooden eggs to around 20,000 people, compared to his predecessor Barack Obama who welcomed 37,000 guests and handed out 85,000 eggs.

The Trumps then went down and joined the crowd briefly.

"She wanted to get back to the tradition, so we're bringing back some traditional elements, like military bands, and focusing on the family itself", Stephanie Grisham, Melania Trump's communications director, told CNN.

The day was filled with kids, games, and a lots of fun, and of course the highlight of the day, the egg roll.
