Mitchell Trubisky: Report: Browns open to trading up from No. 12

Hopefully for the city of Cleveland, the Browns, and their fans, the front office doesn't overthink the selection and make another pick that they will regret-again. Asked if the team will trade for a veteran quarterback on draft weekend, he didn't mince words.

Bear in mind that we're still seven days out from the draft, and while the Browns organization has the toughest call of the event, we have it easy, deciding between TV coverage on ESPN and NFL Network. "Generally, we value picks. If you're thinking culturally what John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan have talked about, he'd make a lot of sense".

"At various points in the past week, four National Football League evaluators told Yahoo Sports (adamantly) that different teams had zeroed in on Trubisky as their pick", wrote Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports. We appreciate Bruce's expertise first, let me say that. We don't want to get into a habit of turning two picks into one, so to speak. We just don't think that is a good way to do business over time. We're in the No. 1 slot and there's a ton of interest and popularity ... and we just know that's what comes with the territory.

One of the only criticisms of Garrett is that it appeared he took plays off during his three seasons in college.

The San Francisco 49ers are in that spot right now too where they don't have a long term solution at the most important position in the NFL.

The Browns have 11 picks - four more than the normal allotment.

The Bills have a lot of needs to fill, but just six draft picks to work with.

Due to the lack of talent, offensive linemen are over-drafted throughout the 3 day event. Pick 175 was acquired from New England for linebacker Barkevious Mingo.

With the fifth pick, the Saints select Ohio State cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

As far as reeling in a starter, they could either trade or look into the available free agents but on a short-term lease. The Patriots maintained they wanted to keep Garoppolo, who's entering the a year ago of his rookie contract, but director of player personnel Nick Carserio left the door slightly ajar Tuesday.

"We are not trying to take some approach where it is this draft or bust", he said. "We haven't resigned ourselves one way or the other". The only trade rumor about the No. 2 pick we've heard thus far is the Carolina Panthers potentially wanting to move up to draft Leonard Fournette.
