Echo Look: Amazon's New Alexa Device Provides Fashion Advice

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) just unveiled its newest connected speaker device, and this one not only includes a camera, but is created to reside in your closet.

On Wednesday, Amazon launched the Echo Look, a hands-free camera that is designed not for security, but for style.

With Echo Look, you can take full-length photos of your daily look using just your voice. The said feature is a combination of machine learning algorithms and advice from fashion experts.

With Alexa built in, you can use the Echo Look to ask Alexa to read you the news, set your alarms, play music and everything else for which she's beloved. Do you think Amazon's idea with the Echo Look is cool, or is it a little odd to outfit an Echo with a camera? Unlike the Dot, though, you won't be able to link the Look to a Bluetooth speaker.

What do you think of Echo Look?

In March it came to light that a new Amazon device was on the horizon when an image popped up on Amazon servers. Furthermore, the feature gives you ratings in percentage on which outfit will best suit you.

Those who want to update their AI-enabled smart device may get the Amazon Echo Look for $200. It's being offered first to Amazon Prime members for $199.99.

The camera, which is available by invitation only in the United States costing $200 (£156), stands on a shelf armed with four LEDs for lighting, a depth-sensing system and a microphone array to receive commands just like Amazon's other Alexa-powered Echo and Echo Dot.

Alexa just got smarter...and more fashionable too. (It also launched an original online show, Style Code Live, previous year with a similar aim.) Though helpful, the Echo Look brings up concerns of privacy and cyber security. You upload photos of two outfits side by side, and Style Check will tell you which one is better "based on current style trends and what flatters you", Amazon's ad says.
