Earlier on April 28, Dawood, mastermind of the 1993 Mumbai blasts was reportedly in critical condition in Karachi's Aga Khan Hospital after he suffered a heart attack. However, there have been older reports that said that Dawood has suffered a stroke in the past. Ibrahim is said to be receiving treatment for gangrene at his residence in the upscale Clifton neighbourhood of Karachi, and is also known to have been frequently visiting the Karachi hospital for medical rehabilitation. It is widely believed that Dawood Ibrahim resides in Pakistan. However, Mumbai police has refused to give any credence to the reports doing the rounds.

The agencies say that Dawood is also mixed up with the Lashkar-e-Tayyeba (LeT), the anti-India terror outfit, which operates out of Pakistan with the support from the neighbouring country's security establishment. "Listening to my voice, do you think any such thing has happened?" Citing Indian intelligence sources, the report said Pakistan deliberately concealed his health condition because it wanted to keep his presence in the country a secret.

Dawood Ibrahim's long-time aide Chhotta Shakeel has dismissed the speculation that the underworld don has died after suffering a massive heart attack in Pakistan. "Bhai is fit and fine", he told TOI over a telephonic conversation, from Karachi. Some reports claimed that he is in critical condition while others said he had passed away.
