The Russians Will Be Back to Meddle in Elections, Comey Tells Senators

Comey told the Senate panel he felt he had to speak out past year about the email probe because he had repeatedly told Congress the investigation was over. "Somehow, her [Clinton's] emails were being forwarded to Anthony Weiner, including classified information by her assistant Huma Abedin", he added.

"So I authorized them to seek a search warrant, and then I faced a choice".

FBI Director James Comey is condemning the secret-spilling website WikiLeaks and says he doesn't see its work as similar to journalism. "But concealment in my view, would have been catastrophic".

"We've got to walk into the world of really bad", he said he concluded. He said that hiding the information about the emails would have been "catastrophic".

"This was bad. It makes me mildly nauseous to think we might have had some impact on the election ..." But tell me, what you would do in that position? Would you speak, or would you hide? "I would not hide that to Congress", he said.

"Everybody who disagrees with me has to come back to October 28 with me and stare at this and tell me what you would do".

Rep. Adam Schiff, of California, said Comey's decisions to talk publicly about the Clinton probe and not say anything about the Trump investigation was a violation of FBI policy.

While the campaign was still ongoing, Comey did not reveal the existence of the Russian Federation probe, but he informed Congress that the Federal Bureau of Investigation discovered thousands of message from the Clinton email domain on the computer of disgraced politician Anthony Weiner, who was married to Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

Philippines says Trump recognised 'great job' Duterte is doing
Democratic lawmakers quickly slammed Trump for first praising and then inviting Duterte to the White House. The former is Philippines' President Rodrigo Duterte and the latter is North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

Trump invites Philippines' Duterte to Washington in 'friendly' call: WH
The campaign has been widely criticized by global officials, including UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Hussein. In October, Duterte said Obama could "go to hell" and he also threatened to "break up" with the U.S .

Longmont weather: High of 63 with a chance of afternoon showers
Boulder should see highs in the 60s but could still get some rain this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service . Here we are at the start of May, hoping that April showers did bring May flowers and now hopefully a little more sunshine.

The fruits of Putin's cyberwar dominated American news from the moment of the Democratic National Convention until Election Day, which nearly certainly changed enough votes in three key states to give Trump a small electoral college margin.

"I would make the same decision", Comey declared during a lengthy hearing in which Democratic senators grilled him on the seeming inconsistency between the Clinton disclosure 11 days before the election and his silence about the bureau's investigation into possible contacts between Russian Federation and Trump's campaign.

Under questioning from Democratic Sen. Don't expect Comey to reveal much about the bureau's months-long investigation of potential coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation when he speaks publicly before members of Congress on Wednesday, May 3, 2017.

Comey's remarks were his first public comment on his decision to reopen the Clinton email investigation, which came after FBI agents discovered new communications from the former secretary of state.

"I was on the way to winning until a combination of Jim Comey's letter on October 28 and Russian WikiLeaks raised doubts in the minds of people who were inclined to vote for me and got scared off", the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee said yesterday in an interview to CNN.

The about-turn followed the discovery of missing Clinton emails with classified material on the laptop of a former congressman, on October 27 past year - barely 10 days before the election.
