After questioning the woman Hamsa (45), police said that she and her husband Sairam (52) had a bitter fight over her choice of groom for their 20-year-old daughter.

The police are verifying CCTV footage on Hosur Road and trying to identify witnesses to corroborate her claims.

On their way back, they stopped for lunch and consumed alcohol as well. From there, the couple got into their SUV which Hamsa was driving. "But Ram, was against to it as he did not liked his daughter's selection of her fiancee", said an officer on part of the investigations.

After being spot, the man Sairam managed to get down from the vehicle near Veerasandra and board a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus. She revealed that they had been married for over two decades. According to Hamsa, Sairam showed no interest and opposed the match as it was she who had selected. When he tried to run, she came out and shot another 2 bullets. However, his wife chased him and opened fire again at her husband in full public view. None of the passengers could make out that Ram had been shot at and neither he asked for help.

The police said his wife, Hamsa Ram, fired three rounds at Sai Ram following a fight. She managed to enter the bus and tried to hit him. As there was a traffic pile up, the traffic police who came near the spot realised about the firing and called their law and order counterparts. If at all Hamsa managed to persuade Ram, he would have agreed. She was allegedly inebriated and has been detained, with a case of attempt to murder registered against her at Surya Nagar police station under Bengaluru Rural police. "Even Hamsa is undergoing treatment for the injuries on her face", the officer added.

The incident, as the police narrated it, took place when the couple, who run a security agency, was returning to Bangalore from Hosur, a town just across the Tamil Nadu border 40 kilometres away, where they had driven up on some work. The couple are residents of Royal Placid Layout in Haralur at HSR Layout 2nd Sector.
