Trump had no income from Russians, lawyer says, with some exceptions

President Donald Trump said Friday that his spokespeople should not be expected to speak accurately about his positions and the goings-on within his administration because he is a "a very active President with lots of things happening".

In the letter firing James Comey, President Trump "thanked" the former FBI Director for assuring him - "three times" - that he was not under investigation.

"As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with ideal accuracy!"

US President Donald Trump has threatened to cancel "all future" White House press briefings.

Trump's displeasure with Comey has escalated rather quickly.

"I assume you're referring to the tweet, and I talked to the president and the president has nothing further to add on that", Spicer said.

The White House spokesperson was further pressed on Trump's tweets about the fired Federal Bureau of Investigation boss. As the Washington Post's Greg Sargent noted, that wouldn't work, since the White House press office lies in written responses, too.

In the tweet, Trump warned Comey that he may have "tapes" of their conversations he could brandish should Comey go to the media with his account of the events that led to his firing.

"Again, the story that there was collusion between the Russians & Trump campaign was fabricated by Dems as an excuse for losing the election", he wrote. Associates of the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director, who remained out of sight Friday at his suburban Virginia home, said they believed any tapes would validate Comey's side of the story. "Not a White House document", he said in the briefing room. The president told NBC's Lester Holt that Mr Comey used the meeting to request to keep his job as Federal Bureau of Investigation director - a 10-year appointment of which he had served four years. The next day, Sanders said the president asked Rosenstein to put his concerns in writing. She responded by blaming what she called the media's "false narrative" and insisting that Pence was not kept in the dark as Trump made his decision to relieve Comey of his duties.

Vice President Mike Pence to reporters on Capitol Hill: "He brought that recommendation to the President, and the attorney general concurred with that recommendation, and I personally am grateful that we have a President who is willing to provide the kind of decisive and strong leadership to take the recommendation of the deputy attorney general and the attorney general to remove an Federal Bureau of Investigation director who had lost the confidence of the American people". "You never rule anything out, but I'm not going there". You know that. I know that.

"He said: 'You are not under investigation'".

Mr Trump said there was no "collusion between me and my campaign and the Russians", but that "the Russians did not affect the vote".

In an interview with Fox News Friday, Trump declined to comment on whether he has listening devices in the White House. All I want is for Comey to be honest.
