In Lagos NEMA ends rescue operation at collapsed building site

It was gathered that the workers and artisans were spread on the first, second and third floors of the building when it collapsed on them.

The National Emergency Management Agency and Lagos state Fire Service are now at the scene of the incident.

At least three people died Thursday when a building under construction collapsed in Lagos.

"As at now, we still have the same figure of three dead and 19 rescued alive, " Farinloye said.

Some of the rescued labourers and artisans were treated by officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).

Tiamiyu added that rescue operation continued on Friday morning.

NAIJ.com's visit to the scene of incident revealed that unknown number of labourers were doing their various works at different areas.

The building located at No. 2/4 Richard Abimbola street, off Limca Road, Ire-Akari area of Lagos was still under construction as at the time of the incident, as most victims were working at the building site.

Confirming the accident, the General Manager LASEMA, Adesina Tiamiyu, said: "We got a situation report about a collapsed building at Richard Abimbola Street, Ilasa bus stop".

The injured, according to him, were taken to Isolo General Hospital.
