Southampton Manager Claude Puel Faces Sack After Saints Stars Turn Against Him

The Saints host Stoke at St Mary's Stadium on Sunday in what will be their concluding match of a largely disappointing campaign.

The Frenchman has grown unpopular with the fans due to his negative and defensive approach - their 0-0 draw with Man United on Wednesday was the fourth consecutive home game in which they have failed to score.

"The manager, Les Reed, Ross Wilson [the director of scouting and recruitment] will be together doing their analysis".

The Red Devils have lost their last two Premier League games against Arsenal and Tottenham to end their hopes of finishing in the top four this season.

"I hope for Southampton that we will see this for next season but of course it will be interesting to continue this work because I think it's important to improve".

"We have an opportunity to finish up in the table and it's a good thing after this long and hard season".

Rightly or wrongly, Puel is deeply among Saints fans and now both the Daily Mail and the Daily Mirror are reporting he is expected to be a goner once the season has wrapped up thanks to deteriorating relationships with the club's players.

"I keep my conversation about the team private, and to prepare for this last game", Puel added.

"A lot of people ask me what the possibilities are for this team, and it's about having a good focus about the game (on Wednesday), not having to focus on relegation, Europa League games or different things, and I'm happy with all the work we can do on the pitch and in the training sessions".

"Just the other day, I saw good work in training and good concentration and this is the most important for me".

"I say congratulations for all this good work all season".
