Kumble's contract runs out at the end of the Champions Trophy and the Indian cricket board had invited applications for the role of the team's head coach, making it clear that Anil Kumble would not get an automated extension.

When asked about the performance of the Indian batsmen in the post-match presentation, Kohli said, "I am very pleased with the performance of our players".

Batting first, India scored 324 for 7, and then bundled out Bangladesh for a paltry 84 in only 23.5 overs at the Oval.

Most likely to support Karthik lower down the order will be hard hitting batsman Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja.

'Jason made some low scores in our series against New Zealand a couple of years ago but we stuck with him because he was playing the way the captain wanted'.

Karthik had a reprieve when he was dropped by Mosaddek Hossain (0-29) in the 17th over while Dhawan went on to complete a 63-ball fifty, adding to his 40-run knock in the previous warm-up game.

Karthik retired hurt six runs short of a first one-day global century, while Hardik Pandya made an impressive unbeaten 80 off 54 deliveries. There were early encouraging signs for Bangladesh after Rubel Hossain had sent Rohit Sharma back in the second over.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umesh Yadav were equally lethal and economical, both bagging three wickets for 13 and 16 runs respectively, to cause the havoc.

Hardik showed his utility as an all-rounder, his innings laced with six boundaries and four huge sixes in the arc between mid-wicket and long-on.

The pace duo of Umesh and Bhuvneshwar posed tough questions by relentlessly bowling just outside the off-stump.

Talking about Australia's chances in the tournament, Hastings said that his team is well prepared but it has to play the best cricket in the tournament where eight of the top teams are competing. The frontline batsmen had no clue on how to tackle the rampaging Indian pacers.

If the warm up matches are an indication, it's going to be a very high scoring Champions Trophy. "On your day, you can do anything; we have quality players who can change the game".

While the bowling was hostile, Bangladesh simply didn't have the defensive technique to survive the new ball under overcast conditions with their first four wickets all falling to expansive shots. "Whichever team handles the pressure in a better way-holds the edge". Those things are nice to have but when you are playing in such a big tournament you don't want to be thinking of those kinds of things, rather than concentrate on winning games.
