Qualcomm at Computex 2017, announced that ASUS, HP and Lenovo are the first original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to develop mobile PCs powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC Platform featuring the X16 LTE modem. The Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC Platform will feature 2×2 802.11ac MU-MIMO for optimal Wi-Fi connectivity.

So-called Windows 10 "Always Connected" machines will also come with a new Connected Standby mode, which will enable PCs to wake up from sleep faster than before, and remain connected to a WiFi or cellular network to keep syncing your data in the background.

With Qualcomm's latest efforts this issue has clearly been overcome but more than that the company has ensured that users will be able to benefit from the full capabilities of Windows 10 with the likes of Cortana playing nice with the company's own SVA (Snapdragon Voice Activation) service so more devices will be able to offer always-listening functionality without undermining battery life.

Jeff Meredith, senior vice president, PCs and smart devices, consumer business segment, Lenovo; Jerry Shen, chief executive officer, ASUS; and Matt Barlow, corporate vice president, Windows marketing, Microsoft supported innovation from Qualcomm.

Qualcomm's recent efforts of bringing their chips to different device categories is on shape with the latest announcement done by the company in partnership with Windows-OS maker Microsoft. Snapdragon 835 has a higher level of integration than Intel's mobile chips, enabling, as the Qualcomm-provided pictures above show, smaller motherboards. Microsoft also disclosed to us that we will be seeing support for the entire Windows 10 SKU line up, including the recently announced Windows S.
