Internet reacts to Presiden't "covfefe" tweetThe tweet went viral, getting almost 120,000 retweets and 150,000 likes in 6 hours. Six hours later the president poked fun at the situation, tweeting, "Who can figure out the true meaning of "covfefe"???".

As of Wednesday morning, covfefe was a top trending term on Twitter from Perth to Delhi, and from Mexico City to Paris.

As of 4 a.m., the tweet garnered more than 108,000 retweets and more than 135,000 likes.

Fresh off Trump's first official trip overseas, his administration is looking for ways to respond more aggressively to allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and revelations of possible ties between Trump's campaign and Moscow.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer indicated it was Trump talk or code for something; that the president used it deliberately and that it was not a misspelling or typing flub.

Spicer on the covfefe tweet: "The President and a small group of people know exactly what he meant".

But coming amid reports Trump will pull the United States out of a global climate deal, the "covfefe" phenomenon illustrated how his Twitter habit can divert attention from his policy agenda. Silicon Valley executive Andrew Crow went as far to change his last name on Twitter to "Covfefe".

Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham had a pointed political theory: "It's so bad-the collusion b/t the Dems & the press, the establ vs the ppl, that we needed a new word to describe it all".
