Selena Gomez writes a love letter to the LGTBQ community as part of Billboard's celebration of Pride Month. The unapologetic truth. Acceptance! I celebrate Pride for the unity it brings us and the message to spread love and end hate. "I had no idea they were all gay as I didn't even comprehend what that meant at the time", Selena shared. "I don't think most 16 year olds can say that!" Thank you for never judging - even when times were tough. You can't wish us a "belated happy Pride!" "I've always said that music is a language that has no barriers, and it's also true that love is an emotion that has no barriers".

The "Heart Wants What It Wants" singer - who famously donated the proceeds from her 2016 North Carolina concert to a local charity group to help combat the state's controversial anti-LGBTQ "bathroom bill" - also praises Madonna's documentary "Truth or Dare" for its "groundbreaking" portrayal of the gay rights movement.

"Starting out in my career there was a lot of uncertainty for me as to who I was and where I fit in", she recalls.

The White House told The Washington Blade not to rule out the possibility the reality star turned commander in chief may still recognize Pride Month, but this like a birthday.
