The following email was sent today to the MIT community by President L. Rafael Reif.

Northwestern University has signed an open letter to the global community to endorse actions being taken at the state and local levels to address climate change in support of the Paris Agreement. And unfortunately, there is no negotiating with the scientific facts.

Spicer said Friday he still didn't know where Trump stood on climate change, despite a promise earlier in the week to "get back to" reporters on the question.

"We will now start the process of increasing our goals to lower emissions even further and faster, because bluntly. we're going to have to shoulder more of the burden now", he said. Last year, Kaiser set a goal of removing more greenhouse gases from the atmosphere than it emits by 2025.

Trump told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt in 2015 "I'm not a believer in global warming".

The United States joins Syria and Nicaragua as the only countries in a United Nations climate group not signed on to the climate agreement. "Does it pose an existential threat as some say?". In short, global warming and its consequences present risks too grave to gamble with. But the national targets are voluntary, leaving room for the USA and the almost 200 other countries in the agreement to alter their commitments. The truth is that unless every nation joins in the solution, every nation will join in the suffering. Viewed in that light, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's statement that we need to expand fossil-fuel production in order to pay for Canada's emissions reductions makes no sense. It began with Trump backtracking on a campaign pledge to move the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Bale: "To win at home is a dream come true"
If any European club is going to be the first to win consecutive Champions League titles, it seems likely to be them. Leonardo Bonucci's deep ball was brought down by Alex Sandro, who cut it back to Higuain in the penalty area.

Trump announced on Thursday that the U.S., the world's second biggest greenhouse gas emitter, would immediately stop implementing the 195-nation agreement brokered by Barack Obama in 2015.

But many on Twitter refused to see the economy and climate change as separate issues, and some expressed anger in seeing one prioritized before the other. Fortunately, it also represents a tremendous opportunity.

Governors and analysts cited moves including California's effort to get 100 percent of its electricity from renewable sources, northeast states potentially tightening maximum allowances for carbon and OR working on measures to put a price on carbon. "We hope that the administration will reconsider this action because the leadership of the United States is crucial in this very important area". That is in no way to minimize the disruption that the changing energy economy will cause to some workers and regions.

That's precisely the attitude Bloomberg took in building his own coalition of local officials, businesses and other groups to help reach climate benchmarks.

After Donald Trump, a quarter-finished Jeff Koons sculpture of a peanut's ballsac, announced his plans to withdraw from/"renegotiate" the Paris Climate Accord, Twitter saw a number of CEOs condemn the move and/or withdraw from Trump's council in protest.

Time and again, this country has risen to civilizational challenges with a sense of optimism, creativity and drive. "I think part of the reason the president said it was a bad deal yesterday was because countries including China were not making substantial progress in reducing their carbon footprint. If we don't take the step than we aren't prepared to take the next step".
