Bond is testifying against McCarthy as part of a plea deal she struck with prosecutors.

The audio recording, offered by McCarthy's defense, captured an oddly sweet moment in a saga that is sickeningly dark.

McCarthy has pleaded not guilty to murder.

It was then, Bond allegedly told McCarthy that, "You killed my kid".

He told her she could kill the monsters with love and laser beams. "I said, 'What did you do?' And he said, 'It was her time".

"You blew them up", McCarthy told her. She was known as Baby Doe for months as investigators tried to identify her.

The mother of the 2-year-old girl known as "Baby Doe" will return to the witness stand Monday to face cross-examination.

After Bella Bond was killed, her body was placed into a duffel bag with weights and thrown into the water.

The 41-year-old Bond testified last week that she saw the 37-year-old McCarthy fatally punch her daughter, Bella Bond, in the stomach sometime in June 2015 after she wouldn't go to bed. She said McCarthy later told her: "It was her time to die". Then, she says, he choked her into unconsciousness.

Then, she says, she saw that he had placed her daughter's body in a green duffle bag in the backseat of his vehicle.

Also on Monday, jurors were shown two pages of texts between Bond and McCarthy.

In the first, under the questioning of Suffolk Assistant District Attorney David Deakin, Rachelle Bond insists she chose to come forward when McCarthy had been admitted to Boston Medical Center to treat an abscess and was in no position to control or hurt her.

A composite image of Bella Bond was shared by millions on social media after her body was found on Deer Island in 2015.

Rachelle Bond testifies in Suffolk Superior Court under questioning.

Instead, Rachelle Bond was the one obsessed with the occult, Shapiro said.
