Officials search former home of Khurram Butt

Security agencies on Tuesday conducted a search of a hotel in Jhelum owned by family members of Pakistani-born London attacker, Khuram Shazad Butt, sources told DawnNews.

"The British police and the MI5 began investigating Butt intensively as part of a major drive to dismantle and destabilise al-Muhajiroun, a grouping of extremists in the U.K. supportive of the ISIS", U.K. counter-terrorism officials told CNN.

Butt was seen as a heavyweight figure in al-Muhajiroun, whose hardline views made him potentially one of the most risky extremists in the United Kingdom, the sources said Tuesday.

Abz is believed to be a nickname for the attacker, who has not yet been identified by police as they continue to investigate the atrocity that killed seven victims and injured nearly 50 more.

Police say Butt, 27, was one of three men who rammed a van into pedestrians on London Bridge before launching a stabbing spree in bars and restaurants at nearby Borough Market on Saturday night.

The Independent reported that one of the men involved in the van and knife attack, which left seven people dead, can be seen in the documentary.

Police today identified the third attacker as Youssef Zaghba, a 22-year-old Italian of Moroccan descent, a day after naming his accomplices as Butt and Rachid Redouane, 30, a self-described Moroccan-Libyan dual national.

The Daily Mail reports that Khuram Butt "verbally assaulted" a moderate Muslim who attended the demonstration outside the Palace of Westminster to oppose Choudary's support of the attack, in which two jihadists used a auto and knives to attack the off-duty soldier near the Royal Artillery barracks in Woolwich, London. In particular, there are questions over whether investigators had the resources to look into complaints such as those levelled by Butt's neighbours about his attempts to radicalise children and whether crucial opportunities were missed.

"Certainly with Abedi in Manchester and Butt now, it looks as if there were some indications that on the face of it may have been missed and I think that will be a great concern", Clarke added.

Security sources in Ireland confirmed he married a British woman in Dublin in 2012 and lived in Rathmines, Dublin. These included traffic violations, minor fraud, and petty crime.

London police said all 12 people held since the attack late Saturday from the Barking neighborhood in the east of the city have been freed without charge. Search warrants allowed them to search the premises and the computers of individuals British security services believed were potentially risky, as a result of information from their network of informants and the monitoring of social media.

The documentary was filmed at events attended by notorious Islamic preachers Abu Rumaysah and Abu Haleema. Mohammed Rahman, another leading figure in the group, was charged and convicted of the same crimes. Senior police officers in Jhelum said that they had no information on the raids.

At the time of the attack, Butt worked as a receptionist at a fitness center in Ilford, a friend from the gym said. I can't believe that he could do this bad attack because his father, Saif Butt, was a humble person, simply a businessman.

Mimbo said he saw armed police swoop on the flat on Sunday in the hours after the attack. Twenty-two people were killed and dozens more injured after Ariana Grande's concert.

"The Muslim community in general, [gets] a lot of criticism over how we don't root out extremism in our community".
