Saturday's jackpot is the seventh-largest in Powerball's history, according to the California lottery.

The winning numbers were 20-26-32-38-58, with a Powerball number 3.

The lump sum payout for the winning ticket would be $279.1 million.

Alberre said the store does not yet have any plans for what they will do with the $1 million bonus. Both amounts do not figure in a deduction for taxes.

Alberre said it was the third ticket sold at the store worth over $1 million, and by far the largest.

The store is at 27985 Bradley Road in the Sun City community in the city of Menifee.

The last First State Powerball victor was last December when a winning ticket worth almost $121 million was sold at a Selbyville gas station. Store owner Matthew Alberre said he does not know which of his customers won the jackpot.

The year began terribly for the family because Alberre's father was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis.

Powerball is played in 44 states, plus Washington, DC; Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

Menifee has about 89,000 residents.

The victor must come forward within a year of the drawing to receive either an annuity, which pays off over 29 years, or to take home the cash prize of $279.1 million. He says they were grateful to receive news that their store sold the ticket.

The ticket, which was purchased at Marietta Liquor & Deli, matched all six numbers in Saturday night's drawing of the multi-state Powerball lottery.
