E3 2017: PS4 Sales Exceed 60 Million Worldwide

During E3 this week a new game has been announced by Bluepoint Games and JAPAN Studio for the PlayStation 4 which takes the form of a rebuild of the popular Shadow of the Colossus.

On Monday, June 12, Sony announced that its PlayStation 4 sold 60.4 million units worldwide as of June 11, 2017.

PS4 software sales, led by critically acclaimed titles such as Horizon: Zero Dawn, also remain strong with more than 487.8 million copies sold at retail stores globally and through digital downloads on PlayStation Store as of June 11, 2017.

"We are very grateful for our fans and partners around the globe who have continued to support PS4", Sony;s President and Global CEO Andrew House remarked.

Additionally, PlayStation has 70 million monthly active players worldwide, and PlayStation Plus has 26.4 million subscribers for its premium services.

E3 2017 isn't in full swing, but we've already seen a number of great old franchises make a return, including more details on Ubisoft's long-awaited Beyond Good and Evil 2.

It was revealed in April that Sony had shipped 60 million PS4s to retailers.

The title is set to release next year, however, the game is looking absolutely stunning. The unveiling also showed the gameplay and a little abut how the story will go about and honestly, we're a little more excited about this game than we are about the movie that comes out this July!

Instead, the company, which already has the lion's share of the gaming console market, celebrated the biggest titles which will be arriving for the PS4 and for Playstation VR. Sony also showed the gameplay for God of War 4, showing that it is going to be rather different from the first three installments.
