The first lady and her son had been living at their Manhattan apartment in Trump Tower since President Donald Trump's inauguration so Barron could finish up his year of school there. The president spent the weekend at his private golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

During the week at least, Trump had been living alone in the vast, private quarters of the White House as he fends off the flood of reporting over Russian Federation having allegedly meddled in the 2016 U.S. election with the aim of helping him defeat Hillary Clinton. Melania and Barron had stayed in NY until the end of the school year, NBC News reported. But she has slowly been raising her profile at the White House, including joining the president when foreign leaders and their spouses visit, co-hosting the annual Easter Egg Roll and holding some solo events.

The decision was seen as unusual by some, as she was the first presidential spouse in recent years not to relocate to the capital immediately. "They are focusing on a seamless integration of elegance and comfort into where the President, the First Lady, and [their son] Barron will be spending their family time and calling their home".

The first lady has said she wishes he would give up tweeting.
