'Better Together' update will unify most Minecraft platforms this summer

Minecraft: Pocket Edition, Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, and Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition will simply become "Minecraft" - owners of all three editions will get the new edition on each platform for free.

Sony's track record for allowing cross-platform play has been good so far, but perhaps they didn't want to offer it with their key competitor in the console space.

These cross-platform capabilities are happening because the Switch and Xbox One versions of Minecraft are being converted to Bedrock Engine which is a software foundation that powers Windows 10, VR and Pocket Editions.

Dunham continued to say that Psyonix, who runs its own matchmaking servers, has had to fall in line with Microsoft's "most complex" security requirements for cross-platform play.

According to the hype, this will happen later this summer as a part of a big update planned by Minecraft which was whimsically named "Better Together".

The E3 2017 Microsoft conference was one of the best in recent times during which the company focused on more than four dozen games. You can also play in a no-threat creative mode that lets you build everything from fanciful floating castles to working electronic devices powered by Minecraft's "redstone" circuitry.

Minecraft will stand in itself, removing the special branding for Xbox One, iOS, Android, Apple TV, Oculus Rift, Gear VR, and PlayStation 4. While servers are now being used, Mojang is offering official support to community members for the first time, initially partnering with Lifeboat, InPvP, Mineplex, and Cubecraft at launch.

Pocket Edition and Xbox One are both catching up. That's because any DLC you purchase will be accessible amongst the various devices at no extra charge.

Massive servers will be introduced and player made content will be integrated for everyone to experience. "This pack will be available on Xbox One and Windows 10, performing best on high-end PCs and the Xbox One X", Microsoft said in a blog post. Simultaneously with the release of Windows 10, this operating system was released a special version of the game rewritten in C++.
