Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry Help Bring NBA Title Back to Oakland

In a tightly called Game 5 of the NBA Finals, it was a no-call involving Kevin Durant that helped the Golden State Warriors pull away from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In last year's NBA Finals, the Warriors took a 3-1 lead heading into Game 5, the same as it had this year, but Curry's team didn't manage to wrap up the series. If you give all your effort and all the fight and all the heart you got, it doesn't necessarily mean you're going to win.

James collected a game-high 13 rebounds, eight assists and two steals to go with his 41 points in becoming the first player ever to average a triple-double in the Finals.

After 10 years in the league, Durant finally has a championship.

As the gold confetti fell and a fresh gray National Basketball Association champion cap sat a tad off-kilter on his head, Kevin Durant embraced his mother Wanda. "No", he added. "But like I've always told myself, if you put in the work and you leave it on the floor, then you can always push forward and not look backwards".

For James, already a three-time champion, the loss puts him in rare - but not ideal - company as only the fourth player to come up short in five NBA Finals. She cheered him on courtside during Game 1 on this year's Finals, with some reports claiming she yelled "brick!" at Durant as he shot a free throw. Throughout the regular season, it was the team's collective and overwhelming talent that made everything add up neatly; in the Finals it was Kevin Durant.

Durant accepted that he was jittery before the final match. "And so I don't know as far as me personally right now". "They beat us, but I'm pretty sure we'll be back and we'll be ready to battle again". To be back here, bring ol' Larry back home, I'm just excited to do something special.

"It was 55 seconds left, and I went other over to half court line and I bent down, and I'm like, is this really happening?"

"LeBron and Kyrie - I've never seen none like them two before".

It makes the latest crown much different than the 2015 title, the first in 40 years for the club and in the careers of most of the players.

ABC will likely see final adjustments from Nielsen secure the series as its most-watched (on average) in almost 20 years, though the series' conclusion won't reach the highs of last year's Game 7.
