He has been on worldwide duty with Sweden and was an unused substitute for Tuesday night's 1-1 draw with Scandinavian rivals Norway.

23-year-old defensive midfielder-cum-right back Fabinho could well be the third signing of the summer for Manchester United. In November 2016, when Lindelof's name was first linked with United, Ibrahimovic said his former Sweden teammate was "good enough" for the club.

Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Swede Victor Lindelof from Benfica for 35million euros (S$54.2m).

Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Swedish worldwide centre-back Victor Lindelof from Benfica for 35 million euros, the Europa League champions announced on Saturday.

The 22-year-old Swedish centre-back will fly to Manchester on Wednesday for a medical, to complete worldwide clearance and agree personal terms.

The 22-year-old, who can play in defence and in central midfield, is expected in Manchester after playing for Sweden against Norway in Oslo tomorrow.

Since joining from Västerås SK in the summer of 2012 he's made 73 first team appearances for Benfica with his performances subsequently earning his 12 worldwide caps.

Wilkins, 60, a former assistant manager at Chelsea has been blasted on Twitter for the comments and when you consider that Lindelof has won three league titles and three domestic cups in Portugal as well as winning the European Under-21 championship with Sweden in 2015, the comments are freaky.

The report claims that the Red Devils hope to conclude both deals in the next two weeks. The physical side of United's defending will be left to Bailly more than the impending arrival, similar to how it was with the formidable centre-back partnership of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand.

The Portuguese stopper has spent time on loan at Rochdale in 2015 and impressed for Belenenses while on a similar deal last season.

A medical is also being planned for him this week, with Mourinho bolstering his squad quickly ahead of next season.
