"Given that Flynn was eventually forced to step down and is now under Federal Bureau of Investigation scrutiny, Putin continued, ".you then should be arrested and put in jail" for having spent an entire day with the Russian politician. Are you all — have you all lost your senses over there?”. You people over there...good job.

"Sooner rather than later, let's find out what happened and bring this to a conclusion", Blunt said on "Fox News Sunday".

Mr Putin again denied any Russian involvement in the USA presidential election and any knowledge of Russian contacts with the Trump campaign.

"The Constitution of the United States and the electoral legislation are structured in such a way that more electors can vote for a candidate who is backed by fewer voters", Putin said. He, however, suggested that private Russian hacker with "patriotic leanings" could have been involved.

"That's complete nonsense. Do you even understand what you're asking or not?" he continued.

Putin also said he was unaware of any proposal from Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, to set up a secret line of communications between the incoming administration and the Russian government.

"I am not aware of such a proposal".

Putin said he arrived at the event and was only told about Flynn after giving a speech. Putin said, Guardian reports.

In his letter firing Comey, Trump said the former FBI director had informed him "on three separate occasions that I am not under investigation". And proceeded to turn that sensation into a tool for fighting the sitting president.

Putin dismissed claims that he had a personal relationship with Flynn, even though they sat next to each other at a 2015 dinner for Russian TV network RT. But Putin didn't give anything by way of evidence with the speculation.

PUTIN: I didn't even really talk to him.
"That's the extent of my acquaintance with Mr Flynn".

When Kelly asked Putin about the alleged meetings between President Trump's team and the U.S. Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, Putin flat-out denied any meetings. Putin, slouched over in his seat, scoffed at the idea.

Vladimir Putin says claims about Russian involvement in U.S. elections are untrue and that the United States actively interferes with elections in other countries.

After all, why would anyone think a man who spent years as a KGB foreign intelligence officer might gather information on powerful foreign business leaders when they are in his backyard?

Trump also said in an interview that he was thinking of "this Russian Federation thing" when he made a decision to fire Comey. Putin, for instance, dismissed Kelly's questions about repression and the killing of journalists in Russian Federation by saying it was another example of American moralizing. Why do you feel you have the right to ask us these questions?. "And then pointing the finger at Russian Federation".

"Put your finger anywhere on a map of the world, and everywhere you will hear complaints that American officials are interfering in internal electoral processes", he said.

It does not sound like justification.
