Sony unveils Spider-man game at E3 expo

In a press release timed to coincide with the company's E3 2017 media briefing, Sony has revealed some impressive sales numbers for the PlayStation 4, and its software.

Sales of Sony's PlayStation 4 continue to purr.

Diving right back into Sony games, we also saw quite a bit of gameplay from the incoming God of War reboot.

And a World War II edition of the Call of Duty is likely to excite fans of the first person shooter franchise.

Building off of robust PS4 momentum, user engagement across the PlayStation® ecosystem has also experienced vibrant growth.

'It's all about gaming. This was confirmed at the 2016 Tokyo Game Show, but its presence here suggests we're also going to see it in the west eventually.

Sony Corp said last week it had sold more than one million units of its virtual reality headset globally, and was boosting production.

Additionally, PlayStation has 70 million monthly active players worldwide, and PlayStation Plus has 26.4 million subscribers for its premium services.

'We are very grateful for our fans and partners around the globe who have continued to support PS4, ' said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Meanwhile, PS 4 Pro is priced at US$399 and other models of the console can be bought for less. The storyline of the game, in which you can play one of the characters, Chloe Frazer or Nadine Ross and go searching for a lost tusk of Ganesh.

Japanese gaming giant Sony has sold more PS4 consoles than rival Microsoft and its Xbox One, but faces renewed pressure from the United States company after it revealed its new high-powered Xbox One X system on Sunday.

PlayStation has also become the prime driver of revenue and profit at the Japan-based entertainment giant Sony, executives say.

Trailers of at least three VR-enabled games were shown in the E3 2017. However, its $499 price tag makes it about $100 more expensive than PlayStation 4.

Apart from Sony, Microsoft and Bioware were also companies that unveiled their latest products.
